There are many useful key combinations that save tons of time. I do my best to avoid using the mouse which is why I love hot keys and/or key combinations. Here are a few that I have found extremely useful.
Alt+Tab – Switch between open applications
Ctrl+Tab – Switch between tabs within Mozilla Firefox
Win+D – Minimizes all the open windows
Win+L – Locks the computer to where you have to enter your password to get back on (great for paranoid folks)
Win+R – Opens up the Run prompt without having to go to the Start menu
Alt+F4 – Closes the active window
Ctrl+F – Opens a search/find prompt in: Firefox, Microsoft Word, Windows Explorer and probably many more applications
Ctrl+C – Copy
Ctrl+V - Paste
Ctrl+X – Cut
Ctrl+Z - Undo (Very important to know!!)
Ctrl+A – Select all
F1 – Help (Also very important to know!)
Shift+Delete – Deletes without going to recycle bin
F5 – Reloads the page in Firefox, Internet Explorer
Ctrl+Alt+Del – Failsafe. If all hell breaks lose on your computer, this is a good key combination to begin with.
